Catching her leg in a bear trap proves the least of Sula’s worries. Haunted by an enchanted monster from a past she dare not reveal, and hounded by the perilously perceptive young village doctor, Villem Deere, the headstrong girl of the woods gambles with fate by binding hers to that of Sigmund, the captivating orphan boy with mysterious nightly business of his own.

The Swan Prince
Book One of The Wilderhark Tales

*****

An enchantress’s curse turns a spoiled royal into a beast; a princess’s pricked finger places her under a hundred-year spell; bales of straw are spun as golden as the singing harp whisked down a giant beanstalk – all within sight of Wilderhark, the forest that’s seen it all.

You’ve heard the stories – of young men scaling rope-like braids to assist the tower-bound damsel; of gorgeous gowns appearing just in time for a midnight ball; of frog princes, and swan princes, and princes saved from drowning by maidens of the sea. Tales of magic. Tales of adventure. Most of all, tales of true love.

Once upon a time, you knew them as fairytales. Know them now as Wilderhark’s.

The Swan Prince Book One of The Wilderhark Tales eBook Danielle E Shipley

"The Swan Prince (Book One of the Winderhark Tales)" by Danielle E. Shipley is a fairytale as endearing as the originals, but with twice as much humor. This quick paced, fast read will both keep you guessing, and smiling.

If you like fairytales, this one won't disappoint you. All the well-loved fairytale themes are present (magic, true love, attractive men...), but mixed with memorable characters, and unexpected twists. Sula, the main character, has a voice that will truly enchant you (Yeah, I admit it, I read it all in one night, so sue me!). While Villem and Sigmund will sneak their way into your heart (at least if you're a female. If male, please see Sula's description again). It's easy to read, and fast paced, making it suitable for those of all ages (particularly the young, or young at heart).

I'd tell you more about my favorite part, but since that was THE WHOLE THING, you'll just have to get your hands on a copy, and see for yourself why it's so wonderful. :)

The Swan Prince Book One of The Wilderhark Tales eBook Danielle E Shipley Reviews

I enjoyed this book very much; liked the writing style and especially enjoyed the twist at the end. It improves on the traditional message.
Reading this book is in process, the other 3 are resting for now. An enjoyable read.
Another continuation of a wonderful series from the creative mind of Ms Shipley.
This is an intricately crafted, touchingly sweet retelling of some of our most beautiful fairy tales. Full of surprising twists, endearing characters, and the perfect happy ending that no one expected (or at least, I didn't), this is a charming story that will leave readers pondering their own assumptions about others and themselves. Simply beautiful.
After meeting this author just once, I had to read her work. I was so taken in from the first page that I could not stop until I read through the last sentence. Wow! Next book please - I am addicted!
Danielle E. Shipley's novella "The Swan Prince" is a fun, tangled-up retelling of several fairy tale tropes. It's a style and genre I personally adore and was happy to find that Shipley's bemused wit carried through the novella with ease and certainty. My only complaint is that I wish there was more of it!

The characters beg for more time to unfold, more room to breathe. The storytelling is great and the twists and turns are excellently revealed, but I wish it were a longer telling. I suppose I must look forward instead to the next Wilderhark book in a few months... and hoping as the series goes on that Shipley will grace us with even more details and more fun in a mixed-up fairy tale world.
I really enjoyed this book! The writing style, the story itself - both were very engaging! I also liked the fact that even though there are elements of typical story dynamics, and it is an easy read, I didn't feel it was predictable at all. I was surprised by the last chapter, and enjoyed the whole very very much!
I liked it so much, I bought book 2 within 5 minutes of finishing )
